Deinking of waste paper

Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance deinking effects and obtain a recycled pulp having a high degree of whiteness without causing the deterioration of strength of pulp fibers by adding a deinking chemical and a lipase to waste paper under neutral or alkaline conditions and treating the waste paper. CONSTITUTION: A waste paper such as a newspaper or a magazine is treated by adding a deinking chemical such as caustic soda, sodium silicate or hydrogen peroxide and a lipase thereto under neutral or alkaline conditions to thereby enhance deinking effects and provide a recycled pulp having a high degree of whiteness. Furthermore, the lipase is preferably a lipase produced by a recombinant Aspergillus oryzae obtained by integrating a gene encoding a lipase derived from Humicola lanuginosa into Aspergillus oryzae.
